Second step in puppy house training would be to prepare the house for the puppy’s arrival. Puppy proof your house by removing hazardous materials that could pose a choking threat to your beloved puppy. Also include in the preparation where you wish your puppy to relieve itself. You could use paper or pre-treated papers or crates as popular choices.

There are a variety of methods you can adopt in puppy house training. Here are some of the common ones followed by most:

Paper or Pre-treated Paper method. Place the paper in a specific location in the house. When you observe your puppy doing its pre-potty routine (sniffing the floor and walking around) lift the puppy and place it on the paper. Praise it when he does it correctly.  Another method that can be utilized in puppy house training would be with the use of crates. Acquire a crate or cage according to the size of your puppy. After doing a good job, praise your puppy to let him know he did it right. This method leaves little room for error.

Important! Do not scold your puppy if you didn’t catch him doing it. Praise him when he did it correctly. With a little patience and vigilance.. it will go a long way.
