In teaching to stop dog pulling on the leash, the first stage involves teaching your dog the heel command.

1. The first thing to do to stop dog pulling is to have a collar and leash on your dog.

2. Second step to stop dog pulling is to stand at the right of your dog so that you will both be facing the same direction and at the same time, your dog is at your left side.

3. Start walking forward in a straight line but do this slowly, and lead with your left leg. • Start to walk again and at the same time hold a treat by your side so that your dog will see the treat there and know that he will be rewarded if he behaves.

• You dog must follow beside you. If he attempts to jump for the treat, just ignore his behaviour. But do not let the dog bite your hand.

• Eventually, your dog will tire of it and will simply walk with you. This is the time when you say "Heel!" Then reward the dog for walking beside you.

• Keep on doing this and you will see the results soon enough.
